Hatsue Kosaka
I founded Kosaka in 2018 to honor the remarkable spirit of my grandmother, Hatsue Kosaka (my beloved Bachan). Born in Japan in 1931, Hatsue survived the devastating hardships of World War II and navigated a incredibly tough life journey with quiet courage and resilience. Despite the unimaginable challenges she faced, she never lost her warmth or her desire to bring joy to those around her. During her twenty-two years working at Sutter General Hospital, she would spend her late-night breaks in the nursery ward drawing kawaii and famous cartoon characters just to make people smile. Today, at ninety-five years old, she is a living testament to loving without limits, and her lifelong mission to make the world a little brighter is the very foundation of the Kosaka brand.
